Change to Signet of Capture.
Quote:
Changed Signet of Capture so that it now targets dead boss monsters. When you use the signet, you are presented with a menu of all of the dead boss monster's skills, and can capture any skill of your choice. This eliminates the need to keep boss monsters alive while trying to capture their skills, and will substantially reduce the difficulty of capturing certain skills that are rarely cast by boss monsters.
|
I have to say a big Thanks for that.
To me that was the worst aspect to the game. Now skill collection becomes something I may actually enjoy, not force myself to do.
It is close to having a moving Skill Trainer. Excellent solution.

The acquisition mobs are the same, it is just now you don’t have to get it when they are alive you can wait and pry it out of their cold dead minds.

Doesn't killing certain boss NPC's trigger a "Cut Scene" and the end of a mission?
How do you get around that?

Exactly. As Barrage was only available from Markis (as far as I know), and killing him triggers a cutscene, it would appear that the skill is no longer available. Anyone know where to get the skill now? I believe this is the only mission with that problem - Dragon's Lair can be a pain to capture if you're playing with a PUG that won't wait to run through portals, but otherwise everything should be available.
Right?
Peace,

OUCH!
I hadn’t even considered that part of it, I hope they left the way to capture while alive in also. I have not captured one since they changed it.

A boss in Abbadon's Mouth has Barrage. He is not in the main mission area though. He's on the west side of the island, and he is a Crag Behemoth Boss. All that means is that Rangers get Barrage later in the game...
I don't like having to wait until the second-last mission to get Barrage, but meh, what can you do.

It's kinda funny actually. I spent 48 hours trying to get Defy pain from Obrhit on multiple runs with and without henchies. I finally get it and the enxt day they make it so that I could've pulled it from the crazy in about 30 seconds.
Lol, it's still very good to hear that elites will be easier to pull now, as Obrhit kinda burned me on skill hunting for awhile.

i like this new system. Pretty good for the warrior skill you have to spam SoC.
Will make less grind.
And for Boss that trigger cutscene, well i guess they will change that.

i wish there is a choice between the two methods. for people who want to capture the old way, let them. but if you beat the boss, you can capture the skill from dead body as well.

Well i don't see the point to try to capture it when he's alive if you can get it way easier when he's dead. Only reason would be because of boss that trigger cutscene, but they know about it now and gona fix it, maybe add a timer after you kill the boss.

I just got word of healing from that monk boss at Thirsty River...got really lucky cuz there was one more monster after he died, thought there wasn't, so quickly got it before it went into the cut-scene.

i like the old way...
i think instead of changing it so that we pry the skill out of bosses' cold dead bodies,
they should have just coded it so that the bosses use their elite skills more often.
it's much better flavorwise.

This is a great change for mainly 2 classes: warrior and monk. Now warriors don't have to spam SoC to get stances, and monks don't have to take their eyes off the party's health and stare down a boss to get a skill.

I dunno.
I enjoyed the tension of having to do the latter--of being a monk and knowing that if I didn't hurry the hell up, my part just my die.
It was tight but exciting.
This new change kind of dissapoints me in that you just have to.. well.. not try.

Does anybody know if the creature you want the elite skill from be the last targeted by yourself before its death to apply the SoC now?
Can I, for example, mosey on over to a boss I never engaged and capture an elite from it after he is dead?
I know about the change but had trouble acquiring the dead boss body as the target creature for the sig. I'm a bit clueless to this new procedure.
Thanks in advance for replies.

Just use the SoC when you are near a boss corpse. It will automatically target that corpse. Even works for a boss not of either of your professions, but you won't be able to capture any of those skills.
